Serving god and our community since 1894

Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00am!

Can't make it to church, but want to join in?  We broadcast our services on Facebook Live!

The latest information on what we're up to, and all of our recent worship services, are available on our Facebook page.

As spring turns into summer, we are still facing the challenges brought by COVID-19.  For the past several weeks, we've been holding drive-in worship and it looks now like we will begin worship inside our sanctuary in early June.  Regardless of whether we are inside or outside, in person or online, we know that Christ's real presence continues to walk with us.

This is a challenging time in the life of the church and our community.  Before you despair, however, remember that our church has survived and thrived through some incredibly difficult times in the 126 years since its founding.  Belle Mina and Morning Star witnessed the pain of World War I, the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic that took millions of lives around the globe, the Great Depression, and the long nightmare that was World War II.  Even in those dark times, God never ceased to work in the world and through His people, and this time is no different.  God is still at work, and we are called to be in service and prayer, in whatever ways we can, for those around us.  So pray.  Pray for those who are ill or who have family that are ill.  Pray for those who have lost loved ones.  Pray for our brothers and sisters around the state, the nation, and the world who are in the front lines of the fight: nurses, doctors, and medical workers of all kinds.  Pray for the people you see at the grocery store and for those in your neighborhoods.  Pray for those who are afraid.  And pray for each other.  Far too often we treat prayer as a last resort.  Prayer isn’t a last resort – it is our first resort.  Lean on God, and let His spirit guide you.

YEs, it is really leaning!

Our building was constructed in 1897.  120 years of prevailing southerly winds and an "interesting" choice of roof construction methods mean that we have between 9" and 11" of wall lean.  Both walls are leaning to the north.
The engineers promise that the building is stable, though...

Yes, our legacy is special!

Far too often, churches have been separated for all the wrong reasons.  In 2014, the people of Morning Star UMC and Belle Mina UMC decided that separation wasn't in God's plan for either church, and the two congregations merged to form today's Belle Mina UMC.

Yes, it is really beautiful!

Our church is one of the most picturesque in the Tennessee Valley, but what sets us apart are the incredibly loving people that fill it each Sunday morning.  Regardless of who you are, where you come from, or what you wear, you will find God's love on display through the people of Belle Mina.
